MAFTL League Operating Rules for 2009
Information Schedule, Brackets, Updates, and any other League
information will be posted at all playing locations.
Format for play will be determined at the AGM.
Home Team will be the official scorer (unless an official scorer
is provided) and be responsible for turning in the game sheets to
the statistician.
The rules for League play will be from the ASA Rulebook except
where noted below.
The ISC Pitching Rule will be used.
The DP Rule (ASA Rule 4 Sec 3) may be used. The name of the
player for whom the DP is batting (FLEX) will be placed in the 10th
position in the line-up.
No DR or EH allowed, except as noted below.
Courtesy Runner for Pitcher and/or Catcher With 2 outs, a
courtesy runner may be used. This runner is the batter/baserunner
who made the 2nd out of the current inning. If this
person who made the 2nd out is a pitcher or catcher, the
batter/baserunner who made the previous out can be the courtesy
runner.
Re-Entry Rule The starting lineup may re-enter 1 time.
Substitutes may not re-enter. (ISC Rule)
Run Ahead Rule (ASA Rule 5 Sec 9A-1) Run Ahead rule will be in
effect. 15 after 3 inns / 12 after 4 inns / 7 after 5.
All games 7 innings. If tied after 7 innings, 1 inning using the
International Tie-Breaker Rule will be played. (ie. Starting the 8th
inning with a runner on 2nd base player who made the
last out of the 7th inning). If tied after 8 innings,
game will be considered complete and each team awarded 2 pts.
In the case of inclement weather, under the direction on the UIC
and Executive Committee, games will be reduced to 5 innings
(including the game in progress) until we are back on schedule.
There will be no tiebreaker inning in these shortened games: game
ends in a tie and both teams awarded 2 pts.
Please refer to the League By-Laws for any rule not covered
above.
The Executive Committee reserves the right to Modify these
Operating Rules and oversee League play to the insure the completion
of each Travel date in the best interest of the League and its
Teams.
